Anxiety
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety can be like a spiral of unchecked “what-if” thoughts. Preparing for the worst can be useful, but when these thoughts multiply without control, they lead to anxiety. It may show up as a constant sense of dread, restlessness, or trouble sleeping. At times, though, it can be less about imagination and more about feeling everything intensely. Small everyday problems can seem larger than they are, keeping the body tense, creating a sense of constant exhaustion over time.
Associated Issues
High-Functioning Anxiety
High-Functioning Anxiety is living with anxiety but keeping it hidden.
Panic Attacks
Panic attacks involve a combination of physical symptoms that can feel like a heart attack.
Should I be Concerned?
Not necessarily. Anxiety, though distressing, is not dangerous. It is the body’s natural response to perceived threat. In small doses, it is normal. In fact, everyone experiences it to greater or lesser degrees and anxiety is extremely common in today’s world. But if it becomes frequent, intense, or limiting, there are effective ways to manage and improve quality of life. Anxiety is treatable, and I offer a safe space to reflect and learn coping skills.
Anxiety and Attention
Anxiety is about focus of attention. It pulls attention into the future. Thoughts can be hard to ignore because they often dwell on things that matter most to us. With guidance, you can retrain attention, like strengthening a muscle. Rather than suppressing thoughts, you can let them be without controlling you. You can have freedom to choose, rather than letting anxiety choose for you. Anxiety is not always a problem in itself, but a symptom, and therapy can help you uncover and address the underlying causes.
