Panic Attacks
What are Panic Attacks?
Panic attacks are sudden episodes of intense fear. They often come without warning and can feel overwhelming. Physical symptoms may include a racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, or a sense of losing control. Many people fear they are having a heart attack or going mad. The experience is frightening, but not dangerous. Panic attacks are the body’s alarm system reacting too strongly, even when there is no real threat.
Associated Issues
Phobias
Phobias are intense, often irrational fears that trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.
Should I be Concerned?
One panic attack does not mean something is wrong. But if they happen often, or you start avoiding places or situations in fear of another, support can help. Panic attacks are treatable. You do not have to live in fear of fear itself. With the right tools and guidance, it is possible to reduce their frequency, lessen their impact, and regain a sense of calm and control in daily life.
Panic and the Body
Panic attacks are closely linked to how the body reacts to stress. Once a panic pattern forms, even small triggers can set it off. The body becomes sensitised, and the fear of panic can keep the cycle going. Therapy helps you break this cycle. You can learn to understand the signs, calm the body, and feel safe again in your own skin. Over time, panic can lose its power.
